If You Are Looking For It You Will Find It (Part 1)

If You Are Looking For It, You Will Find It

Do you remember playing hide and seek as a child? I’m 52 years old and still have very clear memories. I wasn’t a great hider, but I was a really good finder no matter how long it would take me….giving up wasn’t an option! I don’t know what makes me think of this, but when I did, it helped me realize something about myself. That determination I have now wasn’t acquired…it was always there but I just didn’t realize it. So I wondered, how many of us don’t even realize our strengths? Try a little exercise for me when you have a chance. Reflect over the years of what you were really good at as a child. Was there anything you loved to do, or anything you really excelled at? Just give it a try and you may be quite surprised to learn some neat things that you never really thought of as a strength back then, or even now.

Another interesting memory for me was walking the wood fence around our property. My parents had an acre of fully fenced land and in my spare time I would try and walk the full perimeter without falling off. If I fell down, I would start all over from the beginning. Dam, I remember times when I was almost at the finish line and then falling. I also remember saying a few choice words, but then going back to the starting line and starting all over again!

It can be fun to think back to the days of our youth and take notice of some of our traits back then and remember some of the memories growing up. However, although many of us had a wonderful upbringing, some did not. For those of you who had a lot of struggles as a youth, think back, recall your survival skills, and how you were able to get through those very challenging times. I hope you can feel the determination you had to make it through. And I hope you realize how that determination is still here today. No matter what adversities you are currently facing, you can rise above them too.

Thank you for your time, good luck and God Bless,

Kim
