When You Don’t Get Your Way

Isn’t it a bummer when we don’t get our way, or something doesn’t go as we wanted? Of course it sucks, but do you dwell on the fact that you didn’t get your way? How does that usually work for you?

Since I started to watch and listen to Law Of The Universe videos and reading books about it, I started becoming more aware of a simpler, happier life…but it wasn’t an overnight thing. It has taken years to get to a comfortable understanding of how life works. One interesting example is how I used to pout when I didn’t get my way…whether it be an argument with my husband, or not getting the raise I deserved, and just overall disappointments. I had a difficult time letting go of resentment, but I have since learned that carrying resentment around with us just weighs us down. It holds us back from enjoying all the other wonderful things our daily life has to offer.

It just simply does no good. Negative attracts negative, and positive attracts positive. Yes I know, it’s easier said than done, but pretty much everything in life is easier said than done. So, how do we let go of what provides no good? Well, it takes a bit of practice and certainly awareness. I started paying attention to my feelings and actions. I began observing people and situations, and there is clearly a pattern. Those who carry grudges actually look like they have a weight on their shoulders, they don’t smile much at all, and it seems like they carry a philosophy that the world owes them…they could never be wrong. You probably know people like this. Thankfully I was never that bad, and could usually shake things off pretty easily, but I still carried a bit of a lingering negative connotation.

I’m now more like those who shake things off and let it go because I understand how it carries no good, only negative. I want to be happy and not let the past pull me down. The past is dead and gone, we can’t go back and change it. Once we are aware that we have this wonderful choice, it is so much easier to activate the ‘letting go’ of things a daily practice in your life.

You will be amazed at the freedom and joy it brings.

Good Luck and God Bless!
